Dennis + Son Flooring

Location
2023
Luke was retiring the Bizzy Flooring name and relaunching as Dennis & Son, a tribute to his late father, who first introduced him to the trade. The business already had the workmanship and customer service to compete for higher-value projects, but the identity did not reflect that. He wanted something simple, elegant and established. The character of a family firm rather than a typical trade logo. An early idea explored a flooring knife, but a literal tool risked feeling more functional than refined.
How we helped
The strongest route came from an unexpected direction. We distilled Bizzy, the French Bulldog from the previous business, into a minimal silhouette. It preserved the part of the company's history worth keeping and gave Luke a symbol nobody else owns. We paired it with a high-contrast serif wordmark, fine dividing lines and an Est. 2018 detail, held in a restrained black and white palette. The system includes a horizontal wordmark, a mascot lock-up, alternative typographic treatments and a circular badge, so it performs across vehicle graphics, workwear, print and smaller digital applications. We then extended it into a premium business card: black, heavyweight, rounded corners, the bulldog on the reverse, and a QR code linking to the website, contact details and social channels. We sourced and tested plastic, heavyweight and soft-touch stocks with Luke before the full print run, so the finished item matched the standard of the brand.
The result
Dennis & Son now covers carpets, commercial flooring, engineered wood, laminate, luxury vinyl tile and vinyl for domestic and commercial clients across Essex and Suffolk. Several months after launch, Luke told us the branding had attracted a more upmarket clientele and helped the company secure the kind of projects it wanted to be known for. The rebrand turned a personal story into a commercial asset.
